Advanced Joint Crisis Committee

Twilight front: the post-war Deadlock, 1945

Crisis Director: Anthony Park

Overview

3-way joint committees with full cRisis elements (16 delegates)

The Joint Crisis Committee (JCC) is NHSMUNC’s most advanced and dynamic selection of committees. Composed of three committees, each operating within the same world, delegates will be challenged not only to craft their own path through a simulated world but also to respond to the actions of ostensible allies or even outright enemies. Each committee will consist of approximately 16 delegates, simulating the executive cabinets of their respective nations. The coordinated nature of this apparatus is the most rewarding but also the most challenging aspect of the JCC.

Delegates will be asked to address not only the domestic concerns of their respective nations but also the concurrent proceedings of two other committees. This means that international concerns—- post-war reconstruction and interactions with foreign actors—-will always be present issues to address in the committee. Delegates’ crisis arcs will have an impact not only on their respective committees but also on the international landscape crafted by all three committees. They will be challenged to communicate and negotiate not only in committee but also with outside forces, posing a challenge even for experienced delegates.

In this fast-paced simulation of the post-war landscape, delegates will face a pivotal choice: to meticulously navigate the delicate intricacies of post-war rehabilitation or to audaciously overturn the geopolitical chessboard, heralding the dawn of a radically new global order.

premise

It's 1945. The sound of gunshots falls silent as the final remnants of Nazi resistance die out in a dark basement in Berlin. Europe lies in ruins, a shadow of its former grandeur, its cities reduced to ash and echoes. Rampant poverty and despair cover the continent, and in its agony, the seeds of… something ominous take root. Yearslong allies now eye each other with a growing sense of unease. No formal peace process is underway; there is no consensus on the path forward. The future of a war-torn world teeters on a knife-edge.

Will you reach for moreᅳland, wealth, and prestigeᅳor will you choose peace? The choice is yours, but tread carefully, for the shadows of this new chapter hide intentions dark and deep. A chill descends, foretelling a conflict not of territories, but of ideologies. A very… cold one. Or, perhaps, this is only the calm before the storm, a momentary frost set to be ignited once more by humanity's insatiable desire for more.
